What Do We Do?
Metamora Films is a small, independent film company based near Salt Lake City, Utah. Matt Duhamel has produced five documentary films and one short film since 2012. In addition, Metamora Films has held several public film releases while raising funds for non profit organizations.
We strive to create content that is thought-provoking, educational, inspiring and transformation. We’ve decided to create a membership option to help fund future projects. Since 2012, all films and projects have been funded by Film Director, Matt Duhamel so your support of a $20 membership helps in continuing production.
An Idea and a Sony Camera
“I wanted to take my experience in TV news and media broadcasting and create something more in-depth and thought-provoking. I was tired of the TV news industry and how it has this ability to shape and mold people’s beliefs and ideas in a one or two minute news segment. Where is all the story? What happened to both sides of the story? This was one of the main reasons why I created Metamora Films.
During the summer of 2012, I was lucky enough to own a Sony A57, a mid-grade DSLR camera. I talked to Heather about filming Natasha and producing a film on Tourette Syndrome. (Natasha was diagnosed with this syndrome when she was seven years old.) Since Heather was interested in helping others learn about the syndrome, she was all for it. She even assisted me with ideas and production. A production company was born!
From there new ideas were created including a documentary film on forgiveness. This topic was and still is heavy on my mind because of my own personal issues. To this day, I’m still struggling with rebuilding a relationship with my daughter who was effected by my 4-year incarceration. Things are looking up though lately, and there’s hope for a father-daughter relationship.
Metamora Films continues to grow with the release of additional films including NOT FOR RENT!, due out April 5, 2017. In addition, Solitary Nation, a video podcast on America’s criminal justice system is a new show under the Metamora Media umbrella.
